Privacy Policy

How MyPersonal Bible collects, uses, and protects your information.

Effective Date: August 8, 2026

1. Overview

MyPersonal Bible ("we," "us," "our," or "the App") is a free Bible reading, search, and audio application available at mypersonal-bible-app.onrender.com and as an Android APK. We built MyPersonal Bible to help people draw near to God through His Word — not to profit from your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the App, why we collect it, how it's used, and the choices available to you.

By using MyPersonal Bible, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum information needed to provide the App's features:

  • Account information: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google to create and identify your account.
  • User content: bookmarks, highlights, notes, reading progress, and reading preferences (such as text size or Bible version) that you create while using the App.
  • Contact form submissions: if you reach out via our Contact page, we collect the name, email address, and message you provide.
  • Technical & usage data: basic device and log information such as browser type, operating system, IP address, and general usage patterns (e.g., which features are used), collected automatically to keep the App secure and working properly.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information (such as health, financial, or biometric data), and we do not run advertising, so we do not collect data for ad targeting.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the App's core features (Bible reading, search, audio, bookmarks, highlights, and reading-progress tracking).
  • Sync your bookmarks, highlights, and progress across the devices you sign in on.
  • Respond to questions, feedback, or support requests you send us.
  • Monitor and improve the App's performance, reliability, and security.
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or misuse.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data to serve advertisements.

4. Signing In with Google

MyPersonal Bible offers optional sign-in through Google OAuth. When you choose to sign in, Google shares your basic profile information (name, email address, and profile photo) with us so we can create your account and sync your data across devices. We only request the minimum scopes needed for this purpose, and we never see or store your Google password.

Your use of Google Sign-In is also governed by Google's own Privacy Policy.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share information in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: trusted third parties that help us operate the App, such as our hosting provider and, where applicable, our donation/payment processor — bound to use your data only to perform services for us.
  • Legal requirements: if required to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights, or respond to a valid legal request.
  • With your consent: in any other case where you've explicitly agreed to the sharing.

6. Data Storage & Security

Your account data and user content are stored on secure cloud infrastructure. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) between your device and our servers.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information and user content for as long as your account remains active, or as needed to provide you the App's features. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where we're required to retain certain data for legal or legitimate business purposes.

8. Cookies & Similar Technologies

MyPersonal Bible uses only essential cookies/local storage needed to keep you signed in and remember your preferences (such as font size or dark mode). We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

9. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Withdraw consent for optional data processing (e.g., by signing out or deleting your account).
  • Export your bookmarks and highlights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 14, and we'll respond within a reasonable timeframe.

10. Children's Privacy

MyPersonal Bible is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

11. Donations & Support

MyPersonal Bible is free, with no subscriptions, paywalls, or ads. If you choose to support the App financially, that transaction is handled by our third-party payment provider, and is subject to their own privacy and security practices. We do not store your payment card details.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal and regulatory reasons. We'll update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page when we do. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.

14. Contact Us
